This aptly-named accommodation in a tranquil rural location boasts a stunning, south-facing pool deck where one has ample space to soak up the sun or to relax in the shade, whether under a canopy or a parasol. The house is tastefully furnished with period furniture, eclectic artwork and vintage rugs throughout to a high standard giving it an individual character combined with complete comfort.

The entrance hall opens directly into the sheltered central courtyard leading on to the kitchen, the living room, the outdoor dining area, pool deck or the outside stairs to the bedrooms. The living room is characterised by high ceilings and is equipped with a Smart TV. Adjacent you will find the spacious combined kitchen/dining room. The kitchen is equipped with all necessary items, including a dishwasher. The bedrooms are distributed on three levels. On the ground floor, you will find the 5th spare bedroom (or second sitting room) with a pull-out double sofa bed and access to a shower room/WC across the courtyard. Do note that this spare room is not air-conditioned but the thick stone walls keep it cool and electric fans are provided throughout.

Taking the outdoor stairs to the first floor you will find the master bedroom with an en-suite shower and bath and another double bedroom with a Juliet balcony which has access to a shower room just across the covered patio. On the first floor, just across a large sunny terrace and seating area, you will find the 4th double/twin bedroom with an en-suite shower. The 5th double/twin bedroom (and an en-suite shower) is located on the uppermost floor with its own patio and seating. These four bedrooms are extremely well-appointed with views across the valley to the sea and all come with air-conditioning connected to a coin meter. Additional beds and equipment for children is available on request.

At Shades Farmhouse you will find a choice of options for outdoor living for either family bar b ques or peaceful relaxation. The villa adjoins a quiet hamlet and has views across the countryside and to the sea., The pool itself is around nine meters long and is surrounded by a large deck and surrounding lush green planting with comfortable garden furniture and seating area, canopies and loungers. There is night time lighting throughout. Just down from the pool, under a canopy, around a large round table is the perfect place for al fresco dining and barbeques. There are other outdoor areas, such as the first floor and second-floor terraces or the patio off the master bedroom, both perfect places to read a book in total tranquillity. The house can host a large group or two families easily with a degree of seclusion/privacy.

Gharb is as laid back a village as any in Gozo. It is characterised by its quaint farmhouses of which Shades is certainly one of the best. The old streets can take you to the San Dimitri chapel, about a 20-minute walk away. In ten minutes you can walk to the Gharb square or to San Lawrence where you have a choice of restaurants/bars. There is also a grocery store in each square. We want our guests to have a relaxing and fun holiday in Gozo. Due to the location and neighbouring properties, we do not recommend this property for party events.

About Gharb

Time surely stands still in the village of Gharb. The square and its beautiful baroque church welcome and invite you to explore this sleepy village. In the same square you will find a couple of very good restaurants. On a Sunday morning go to Pjazza Santu Pietru to watch a game of brilli and take a walk along the sheer Dwejra cliffs. An awesome sight to behold.

  1. To confirm your booking we ask for a non-refundable* deposit of 35%.
  2. The maximum number of guests is limited to the number of persons on your booking form/rental agreement.
  3. Check-in is at 16:00 and check-out is by 10:00. We try to be as flexible as possible with these times. 
  4. Utilities such as water, electricity and gas are included. Air-conditioning may carry pay-per-use charges. Please see details in Property Features above.
  5. An Eco Tax of €0.50 per adult per night up to a maximum of €5 per adult is due.
